Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) demonstrated its commitment to technical excellence through active staff and student participation in the WorldSkills Malaysia Belia (WSMB) 2026 Peringkat Akhir. The prestigious final stage of the national skills competition was held from 8 to 12 June 2026 at the Centre for Instructor and Advanced Skill Training (CIAST) in Shah Alam, Selangor. TAR UMT was strongly represented across three critical digital and technical categories: Internet of Things (IoT), Web Technology, and IT Software Solutions for Business (ITSSB).
A dedicated contingent of 12 highly skilled students competed fiercely against top talents from various institutions nationwide. The university's strong footprint in the competition highlights the rigorous training and technical depth fostered within its computing and information technology programs.

The student participants competed in both team and individual formats as follows:-
● Internet of Things (IoT) Category (8 students across 4 teams):
Mr. Cham Herman, Mr. Jeff Wong Wei Quan, Ms. Liew Jie Er, Ms. Wong Yan Thong, Mr. Tan Wy Hang, Mr. Tan Ying Nan, Ms. Wong Yoke Ting, and Mr. Aiman Dinie Bin Ahmad Faizal Sim.
● IT Software Solutions for Business (ITSSB) Category (4 individual competitors):
Mr. Liew Wen Jing, Mr. Yap Li Weng, Mr. Tan Ming Wei, and Mr. Low Mun Hou.
In tandem with the student competitors, TAR UMT’s academic and technical staff members played central roles in ensuring the smooth and fair execution of the national competition. Their appointments to key leadership and technical support roles underscore the industry recognition and expertise held by the university’s faculty.
The staff contributions included:-
● Prof. Ts. Dr. Tew Yiqi: Appointed as the Chief Judge for the highly technical Internet of Things (IoT) category.
● Mr. Liaw Chun Voon: Contributed as an official Judge evaluating the Web Technology category.
● Technical Support: Ms. Joan Hau and Mr. Wong Wai Zhong (Lecturers), alongside Mr. Surendran (Lab Assistant), served as Pembantu Am and Makmal to ensure robust environment management and smooth operation for the IoT category.
By engaging at the highest level of national skills assessment, TAR UMT continues to validate its curriculum alignment with industry-ready benchmarks, while fostering next-generation talent ready to drive the country's digital ecosystem forward.
