Unleashing Potential: Foon Yew High School Students Engage with AI and Industry Projects
On the vibrant second day of the Leadership Training Camp organized by the Youth Circle of Arts (YCA) in Johor Bahru, a diversed cohort of participants gathered to explore innovation and technology. Among them were 195 eager students from Foon Yew High School, accompanied by 17 dedicated trainers from various parts of Malaysia, and joined by 4 secondary school teachers. March 2nd, 2024, marked a pivotal day as attendees were treated to an insightful talk by Assistant Professor Ts. Dr. Tan Chi Wee titled "AI Marvels: From History to the Future," and had the opportunity to engage with groundbreaking industry projects from the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology (FOCS) of Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT).
Dr Tan's presentation offered students a captivating journey through the evolution of Artificial Intelligence (AI), providing valuable insights into its potential applications and impact on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). With a focus on SDGs such as Quality Education (SDG 4), Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9), and Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11), students gained a deeper understanding of how AI can drive progress and address global challenges.
In addition to the enlightening talk, students actively engaged with innovative projects showcased by FOCS. These projects embodied the latest advancements in computing technology and industry innovation, providing students with hands-on experiences and inspiring them to explore future career paths in technology and entrepreneurship.
Through interactive sessions and demonstrations, attendees experienced firsthand the transformative potential of technology in shaping our world. The projects not only encouraged students to think critically and creatively but also empowered them to envision themselves as future leaders and innovators.
The YCA Leadership Training Camp instilled in participants a spirit of curiosity, innovation, and collaboration, setting the stage for a future driven by technological advancement and sustainable development.
