Seven teams from Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT), represented by students from the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology (FOCS), participated in the SunCTF 2026 competition organised by the Sunway Cybersecurity Club of Sunway College on 6 September 2026.
The competition brought together 82 teams from more than 20 universities, involving approximately 300 students. Held from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the competition featured Jeopardy-style Capture the Flag (CTF) challenges that tested participants’ cybersecurity knowledge, technical skills, problem-solving abilities and critical thinking.
Throughout the competition, TAR UMT students demonstrated their technical capabilities and collaborative spirit as they worked together to tackle a variety of cybersecurity challenges. Their participation provided valuable hands-on experience in applying theoretical knowledge to practical cybersecurity scenarios while strengthening their teamwork, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Participation in SunCTF 2026 allowed students to enhance their technical skills, exchange knowledge with peers and gain valuable exposure to the cybersecurity community, supporting FOCS TAR UMT’s commitment to developing industry-ready graduates.
