Students from Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) achieved remarkable success at the Agentic AI-Driven CTF Hackathon 2026 hosted by UCSI University on 6 August 2026. The intensive eight-hour competition brought together 60 teams to tackle complex cybersecurity challenges using artificial intelligence.
TAR UMT was represented by two student teams from Bachelor in Information Technology (Honours) (Information Security): Team Mamak and Team Goal Bigger. Team Mamak (Wong Mun Sheng, Ong Jia Wei, Tong Yu Cheng Ivan and Gerrard Lau) delivered an outstanding performance, securing 10th place in a highly competitive CTF competition. The event challenged participants across web exploitation, binary exploitation, reverse engineering, and firmware hacking.
The hackathon provided students with vital practical exposure to AI-driven security automation, advanced tool utilization, and technical networking with peers across Malaysia. Team Mamak's top-10 result highlights TAR UMT’s growing strength in AI and cybersecurity education, demonstrating the practical problem-solving skills of its students on a national stage.
Team Mamak from TAR UMT secured 10th place out of 60 teams at the UCSI Agentic AI-Driven CTF Hackathon 2026.
