The Faculty of Computing and Information Technology successfully hosted the Deloitte Technology Talk & Generative AI (GenAI) Workshop on 20 April 2026, bringing together students and industry experts for an insightful and hands-on learning experience. The event, held at DK 4, attracted 59 students from various computing programmes, reflecting strong interest in emerging technologies and industry engagement.
Bridging Academia and Industry
Organised in collaboration with Deloitte, the session aimed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world industry practices. Students were exposed to the latest trends in Generative AI, practical coding applications, and career pathways within the technology sector.
The event began with a welcome address by Mr. Ku Cheng Fui, followed by an introduction to Deloitte and its speakers by Ms. Syafiqah, Deloitte Talent Acquisition Specialist.
Insights into Generative AI and Industry Trends
A key highlight of the programme was the technology talk delivered by Mr. Andrew Goh, Partner and Innovation & Cloud Development Centre (ICDC) Leader at Deloitte Engineering. He shared valuable insights into how Generative AI is transforming industries and driving innovation across sectors. His session provided students with a deeper understanding of real-world applications and future opportunities in AI-driven solutions.
Hands-On Learning Through Coding Workshops
The workshop segment, led by Mr. Goh Yuen Fei, Senior Manager at Deloitte Consulting, provided students with practical experience in applying GenAI tools.
Participants engaged in:
● Developing a login system using Generative AI
● Building a Task Manager Web Application as a mini project
Students were given one hour to complete their mini projects, simulating real-world problem-solving scenarios. Notably, 37 students successfully submitted their projects, which will be evaluated by Deloitte as part of a potential internship selection process.
Career Insights and Industry Engagement
The event concluded with an engaging Intern & Analyst Journey Sharing and Q&A session conducted by Ms. Syafiqah. Students gained first-hand insights into career pathways at Deloitte, internship opportunities, and expectations from future tech professionals.

The Deloitte Technology Talk & GenAI Workshop achieved its objectives by:

● Providing exposure to industry-standard tools and coding practices
