TARUMT Achieves Success at i-Hack 2024 Cybersecurity Competition

The M53_A1ph4_Sh4rk! team, made up of 4 students from the Bachelor of Information Technology (Honours) in Information Security program at Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT), demonstrated their exceptional skills and perseverance at the i-Hack 2024 Competition, organized by Universiti Teknologi MARA College of Computing Informatics and Mathematics, in collaboration with BSEP and MINDEF Malaysia. This prestigious event took place in two stages, starting online and culminating in a three-day grand finale at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from August 6 to August 8, 2024.

The competition began with the Stage 1 – Qualifying Round on July 27-28, 2024, where teams from various universities across Malaysia competed in a Jeopardy-style challenge. Only the top 30 teams advanced to Stage 2 – Attack & Defence on August 6-7, 2024. The challenge intensified as participants engaged in offensive and defensive cybersecurity tactics, with only the top 10 teams progressing to the final stage.

M53_A1ph4_Sh4rk!, representing TARUMT, proved their mettle by advancing through all stages, ultimately securing the 2nd runner-up position in the Grand Finale: Time Attack on August 8, 2024. Their success serves as a source of inspiration for future students, encouraging them to continue striving for excellence in the dynamic and rapidly evolving field of cybersecurity.
