On 26 March 2026, Information Security students from Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) participated in the highly prestigious 5th China Mobile "Wutong Cup" Digital Intelligence Innovation Competition (National Finals Division). The finals were held on-site at the South China University of Technology (华南理工大学) in Guangzhou, China.
We are incredibly proud to announce the outstanding achievement of our students: Team 404 secured the 2nd Runner-Up (季军/三等奖) position in the fiercely competitive AI + Security Track.
The team, featuring Daniel Koh Yu Hang, stood out among international competitors by developing the "Wutong Defense Console" (智能反诈闭环体系). This project is a multi-layered, AI-driven telecom fraud prevention system designed to protect vulnerable demographics, such as university students, from highly organized cybercrime syndicates.
Hosted by China Mobile Hong Kong Limited, the "Wutong Cup" is a premier international tech competition that challenges top talents to utilize artificial intelligence and big data to solve critical, real-world industry pain points.
This competition aimed to push the boundaries of digital security while providing hands-on experience in architecting enterprise-level, closed-loop defense systems. The experience was invaluable, bridging the gap between classroom theory and real-world commercial deployment.
We extend our warmest congratulations to Team 404 for their exceptional technical expertise, innovative problem-solving, and for making TAR UMT proud on the international stage!
