On 26 March 2025, our guest speaker, Ts. Gary Kong, an alumnus from Faculty of Computing and Information Technology (FOCS) was invited to share his insights and knowledge on Cyber Security in a session entitled “A Practical Guide to the Secure Development Life Cycle”. Ts. Gary is a renowned cybersecurity consultant with over 9 years of industry experience and currently is the Director of Axcel Consulting.
RIS Second Year students attended the inspiring and enlightening presentation. The talk aimed to help students to understand the activities in the Secure Development Life Cycle. Ts. Gary explained in details the common misconfiguration on web servers that can introduce web vulnerabilities. He also discussed how to remediate the vulnerabilities using secure coding principles. Additionally, he explained in details on how knowledge of coding can be applied to the daily tasks of a cybersecurity professional.
Students who joined the talk had the opportunity to engage with Ts. Gary during the brief question-and-answer session. He took his time to respond all questions. His talk benefited all students and staff greatly.
